My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as being already there and unite myself wholly to You. An announcement from our Bishop: ‘Following  yesterday evening’s announcement by the Prime Minister of a Lockdown for the whole of England beginning on Thursday and mindful that there is to be a vote in Parliament on Monday, I would ask you to inform parishioners that it is most likely that a cessation of the celebration of public Masses will begin on Thursday and continue until the end of the period of Lockdown.  Information will be made available on the Diocesan Website as soon as arrangements are confirmed on Monday.

Such a scenario will mean a return to a reliance on live-streamed Masses for this coming period.  Thank you for your understanding in these difficult circumstances and for your support for priests and deacons whose ministry, albeit somewhat limited, is so necessary.  It is to be hoped that it may prove possible to keep churches open for private prayer. Please keep the needs of those who are sick and those who care for them in your prayers at this time. Bishop Richard, Bishop of Arundel and Brighton

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as being already there

and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.
