Coronavirus update

In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, so many aspects of our lives must change. This includes the ways in which we publicly express our faith. It is very clear that, following official advice and in order to keep each other safe, save lives and support the NHS, at this time we must not gather for public acts of worship in our churches. This will begin from Friday evening, 20th March 2020, until further notice.

However Fr Aaron will be present at the church entrance to greet parishioners on Sunday morning (22nd) for a while from 10am.

Also, please click on the ‘Newssheet’ link here, to download a comprehensive message from Fr Aaron.

In the meantime: Live Mass is streamed from St Mary of the Angels, Worthing at 10.30am SUNDAY & 10.00am Weekdays (7.30pm Wednesdays). Go to: https://www.stmaryoftheangels.org.uk/catholic-mass-online/

Also, live Mass is streamed at 12 Noon each day from the Catholic Shrine at Walsingham: http://www.walsingham.org.uk/live-stream

England to be Rededicated as Our Lady’s Dowry

On Sunday 29 March, England will be re-dedicated as Our Lady’s Dowry at 12 Noon.

Here at West Grinstead, we have signed up for our Shrine Church to become a HOST SHRINE – especially as we are the first Marian Shrine in Britain to be consecrated after the Reformation.

In Particular, on Sunday 29 March, after morning Mass, there will be a special liturgical celebration here at 12 Noon, and so we hope as many people as possible will stay on for that brief liturgy. As such, we shall join in prayer with thousands of others – in churches, schools, university, prison, hospital, or even at home – across the country! ‘Behold’ is a campaign of media launched for the preparation of The Rededication, acting as a guide to help us engage in our journey to March 29th. www.Behold2020.com is the official site for The Rededication and you can find everything you need there. Behold was created on behalf of The Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:

As of 2 March, it has been felt that the risk from Coronavirus should be upgraded to Stage 2 of the Bishops Conference guidelines, in our Deanery, because of the proximity of a confirmed case in Hampshire. This means:

1. We shall suspend distribution of Holy Communion under both kinds – ie the Precious Blood will not be offered. It is important to remember that full Communion – the reception of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ – occurs under either kind. Ministers will be careful not to physically touch the recipient during Communion.

  1. The physical sign of peace will be suspended.
  1. Holy Water stoups will be removed/emptied.
